Puck and Janna

David has lived on the Island for the last Thirty years and first visited it in1962 when his family holidayed on the island of Erraid as a guest of the owner at that time, this led to them renting a cottage there for the next 8 years and started David's love for the the wildlife in the area and seas surrounding it.

David moved here in 1973 and worked as the local postman for 1 year before starting as a salmon fisherman working out of Camas and later Uisgean, during this time he obtained a licence to drive articulated Lorries and also a small fishing boat which he then worked for a few years before going to work full time driving Lorries for the local Sawmill, mainly fetching logs out of the forest which gave him lots of opportunity to watch the wildlife, until it burnt down in 1989.

Since then he has worked at various jobs: working on and setting up some of the mussel farms in the area, before joining Bowmans, the local bus company, in1996 leaving them in August 2003 to start Mull and Iona Taxi, having realised there was a need for this service on the Ross of Mull.

Janna first visited and fell in love with Iona in 1974 while a student in Edinburgh. Much later, after 10 years of living and working in Hamburg (Germany), she returned to Scotland in 1988, initially to Erraid, and after a year spent working all over Scotland she took a job on Iona for the season, switched to Mull half way through and has lived here ever since. Mull grows on you!

David and Janna met in Fionnphort in 1989 and married the following year. They set up home on David's croft and took over the Isle of Mull Angora Rabbit Farm and visitor attraction in 1993. Unfortunately they were unable to find someone to take it over in 2001 when they decided the time had come to move on.

Janna helps out driving the minibus - as well as Balamory tours she specialises in tours in the German language. She also runs a small market garden providing fresh vegetables for the local shops and restaurants as well as private customers, ably supervised by the two dogs, young Puck from Coll, who is mainly Springer Spaniel and Tab - an old Lab/Collie cross who came through the local animal rescue as her owner had died.
